SARA has many affectionate and playful dogs ready for adoption. Choose your new family member from our online collection or, if you don?t see your new best friend, we encourage you to visit the Sanctuary. Our director can find several dogs for you based on your lifestyle and interests, while you get the opportunity to meet the animals in person. Also available in our downloads section (on this page) is a compiled list of adoptable dogs.

Freddy: 7 year old terrier mix. Sweet and friendly, had some skin issues that have improved. Gets along well with other dogs. A little shy, but would be great for the right home. OK with older kids.

Brando: shepherd/pit mix, 4 years old, came from the Humane Society. Good w/ adults and gets along w/ female dogs. Not recommended for home w/ small kids or cats, or other male dogs.

Tripod: Tripod is a young lab mix, with only 3 legs. This sweet boy was found as a stray and had a rope embedded in his left front leg. Sadly, he had to have it amputated. He is about a year and a half old and friendly with other dogs. Tripod was in a foster home with cats and he did very well with them. He also did great with everyone when they took him to dog parks.

Fido: This cute big eared loveable dog was rescued from an abandoned factory in San Antonio just days before it was to be demolished. Fido is friendly and would make a great addition to the right home. He can jump fences but will make a great family pet in the right environment. Very energetic and sweet. Gets along well with female dogs.

Daisy: 8 year old Golden Retreiver/lab mix female. Playful and loving. Needs a little socialization. Gets along well with other dogs.

Sweetie: 5 month old German Shepherd mix female. A little shy, but sweet and loving. Would make a great addition to a home with older children or no kids.

Sandy: 5 year old female pit mix. Friendly and affectionate, Sandy gets along well with most other dogs, but not cats or other animals. She is a strong and active dog. Very sweet.

Cleat: Super sweet Border collie mix, 6 month old male. Likes everybody. Great pet for any home.

Farlin: Husky mix about 6 years old. Has some old injuries to his leg- possibly hit by a car. Sweet disposition, gets along with most other dogs, but prefers females. Would be good for a home with no other male dogs and no small kids.

Shorty: German shepherd Bassett mix, 3 years old. Prefers to be in a one-pet environment. Could go to the right home, without children, cats, or other dogs.

Taz: splayful and sweet, but can be a little headstrong and gets along well w/ only a few dogs. Wouldn't recommend him for a home w/ kids or cats or small dogs.

Kirby: the perfect friend to go on long walks with you! Just you, Kirby and the open road. A shepherd/lab mix female, about 6 years old. A little fearful of people, but sweet when she gets to know you. Can be bossy and aggressive w/ other dogs over food, but over all does well w/ other dogs.

Othello: A big boy. A great dane/lab mix at 120+ pounds, Othello is sweet and good natured. Tends to protect food, gets along well with female dogs, neutered.

Gracie: just wants to stretch out on the back porch with you! Super sweet and loving, house trained, good w/ cats and kids and other dogs. has a crippled back leg, but gets around very well. Very playful and happy.

Michael: - Cocker/Beagle mix. About 6 years old. Had his lower jaw broken by someone who kicked him in the face. He's house trained and likes cats and other dogs. Not good w/ kids. Despite his jaw, he is a very sweet and gentle dog, and just needs someone to give him some much-needed love.

Palo: - 1.5 year old sweet and goofy hound mix. This is your perfect companion for those trips to the lake, for a mega-frisbee marathon or for playing in the backyard. House trained, likes other animals and kids. Great all around happy go lucky dog.

Heidi: - Lab Poodle mix- likes other dogs, but a little shy and takes time to warm up to new people. Likes cats and other dogs, house trained, sweet.

SaraLee: - Much better than frozen poundcake, this adorable dog is a force to be reckoned with. She's a funny little dog, about 12 or 13. She's been here for 10 years or so. She's very sweet, active, playful, but is not house trained despite our best efforts. Loves people and attention. Just had 4 teeth pulled. Loves food and to chase rats!
