THE CHARM OF SARA
SARA stands for the Society for Animal Rescue and Adoption. SARA is a farm sanctuary on 128 acres in Central Texas between San Antonio & Austin. Tracy Frank has run SARA since 1996 with a compassion for animals first. SARA leans on the kindness of donations monthly to care for and feed the 600+ animal residents.
OUR SANCTUARY

OUR ANIMALS

Animals come to us mostly from Texas and we work with other no-kill animal rescue organizations in Texas, California, Ohio, Colorado and Illinois to find homes for adoptable pets. Some of our animals don’t fit in a home situation, are not suitable pets and still deserve a place to live. We work with the public and partners to take in difficult cases and have nearly 500 animals who are permanent residents.
OUR MISSION
OUR LOCATION
OUR NEW BARN

STAY IN THE BARN
You can now book the barn for 2022. Visitors, volunteers and SARA friends are welcome to stay with us. We have two rooms in the barn, upstairs and downstairs. The accommodation has two shared toilet and shower facilities. One is inside the barn or choose the ‘Best Little Outhouse in Texas’. Also have wild experience showering or soaking in the tub outdoors. The main attraction is to be able to live among 600+ animals and join in the daily activities.
SARA Sanctuary is beautiful all year round and is positioned on the migration path for many birds and the Monarch butterfly. Experience farm life and wildlife up close or from our second story deck overlooking the whole sanctuary. We are working on adding extras like meal planning, grocery shopping, an ATV guided tour of 128 acres and more.
